Best Booth Types for This Venue
The scale of this hotel means you need to know your room in advance. With 83 event rooms across nearly 277,000 sq ft, where you set up matters. When the event coordinator confirms the room assignment, pull up the floor plan on their website and identify the natural guest flow points — usually near the bar or main entrance. For outdoor events on the Marina Terrace or Coronado Terrace, position the booth so the bay and marina are visible behind guests. Those outdoor shots are some of our best from this property.
Our Full Guide
Everything we know about Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina
The Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina is simply one of the largest and most capable event venues in San Diego — and over 23 events since 2012, we’ve seen nearly everything this property has to offer.
The numbers are staggering: 83 event rooms, nearly 277,000 square feet of total event space, a Grand Ballroom with 26-foot ceilings spanning 35,631 square feet, seating for up to 3,718 guests, and outdoor terraces overlooking San Diego Bay. We’ve set up for Marine Balls, trade shows, corporate galas, and weddings here — and the infrastructure handles all of it without missing a beat.
The Grand Ballroom’s 26-foot ceilings are among the tallest event ceilings in San Diego. Any booth type, any backdrop height, any configuration — it all works without compromise. The Marina Ballroom is a more intimate option at 150–600 guests seated, with classic design and excellent proportions. The outdoor Marina Terrace and Coronado Terrace are exceptional for events that want the bay as a backdrop — the views of the marina and Coronado Island are genuinely spectacular.
Load-in is smooth for a hotel of this size. Service entrance access, elevator to all event floors, and both self-parking and valet options make logistics straightforward. The event coordinator team is experienced and professional — they’ve worked with hundreds of vendors and know how to make your setup seamless.
The one thing to note: with 83 rooms and events potentially happening across multiple floors simultaneously, confirming your specific room assignment in advance and knowing the floor plan before you arrive is important. The Marriott is so large that showing up without that information can cost you time.
For anyone looking for a venue that can scale from 100 guests to 3,000+ without any compromise on service or infrastructure, the Marriott Marquis is the answer in San Diego.
