The security check-in for vendor load-in is real — don't show up 30 minutes before your scheduled setup time and expect to walk straight in. Call the event coordinator the day before, confirm your load-in window, and arrive at least 45 minutes early for your first event here. Once you've done it once you'll know exactly what to expect. The Tortuga Terrace on the 6th floor is an underused gem for outdoor corporate events — Petco Park views and great open-air energy.

Everything we know about Omni San Diego Hotel

The Omni San Diego Hotel is a 32-story luxury property in the heart of downtown’s East Village, connected by skybridge directly to Petco Park. With 32,000 square feet of event space across 21 rooms — including a 9,266-square-foot Grand Ballroom with a 19-foot ceiling — it’s one of the most capable event hotels in San Diego.

After 19 events here since 2014, the Omni runs like a well-oiled machine. The staff are experienced, the infrastructure is excellent, and the hotel has clearly hosted thousands of events before yours. The rooms are large and well-proportioned for photo booths, power is reliable throughout, and the elevator access to all event floors is smooth.

The one thing to plan for is load-in. The Omni requires all vendors to check in with security at the loading dock before bringing equipment in — this is standard procedure for a hotel of this size, but it can take 20–30 minutes depending on how busy the day is. Build that time into your arrival plan and it becomes a non-issue. Call the event coordinator the day before to confirm your load-in window.

The Grand Ballroom is the flagship space — 9,266 square feet, 19-foot ceilings, divisible into five separate rooms, and opens onto the Grand Foyer with two-story floor-to-ceiling windows. For corporate events, the hotel’s Tortuga Terrace on the 6th floor offers a stunning outdoor venue with views of Petco Park. The Skybox boardroom on the 19th floor is another standout for executive events.

The Omni is particularly well-suited for corporate events, trade shows, and large-scale social functions. The proximity to the Convention Center makes it a natural choice for conference overflow, and the hotel’s ballpark connection gives it an energy that more traditional ballroom hotels can’t match.
